I couldn't find a translation for this Dutch expression in English, so I just made a literal translation... if someone knows the English expresion, please let me know!
"A woman's hand and a horse tooth never stop"
Deze uitdrukking van vroeger wijst op de voortdurende bezigheid van vrouwen. Veel handwerk waarop de uitdrukking vroeger sloeg is door machines overgenomen. Zoals een paard altijd wel wat te kauwen heeft, zo vindt een vrouwenhand altijd wel wat te doen, is het idee.
Recently I posted a picture on the 'Recht en Averecht' Facebook page that this expression well imagined.
This expression of the past reflects the continued occupation of women. Many handicraft which the expression used to hit is taken over by machines. As a horse always has something to chew, so find a woman's hand is always something to do, that's the idea.
